At Lizunova, our top coloured gemstonecrush here is undoubtedly sexy, scintillating spinel. Spinel is a lesser known, extremely rare gemstone that until recently had little consumer recognition. Throughout history monarchs and moguls have mistaken spinels to be either sapphire or rubies depending on their colour. The most famous example of this is the “Black Prince’s ruby” which adorns the Imperial State Crown, making it a centrepiece of the British Crown Jewels. Beside rich reds and violet blues, spinels come in electric pinks, magentas and sophisticated pale to charcoal greys.
Spinel features prominently in our Lizunova contemporary designer jewellery range. It is ideal for ring settings as it has a hardness of 8 on the Mohs scale and excellent durability similar to sapphire, plus it sparkles with a diamond-like brilliance. Our latest addition featuring spinel gemstones are our gorgeous Blushearrings with onyx drops. Come and visit our opulent new store in Sydney’s iconic Chifley Plaza or follow us on Instagram.
